The WebGIS is an elective course in the Information Systems Department curriculum. This course is a continuation of another elective course which need to be taught prior to this course in the curriculum. Therefore the “GIS Data Management” elective course can be call as a prerequisite for this course. According to the market and students’ interest this course is selected to be taught in this semester. A fast Internet and computers with browsers and spreadsheet software is required for this course.

This course teaches computer science students to become more effective writers, using practical examples and exercises, which are taken from computer science context. It helps them to learn the research principles, methods and methodologies. Another emphasis is the use of LATEX, which suits especially well for writing computer science texts containing several equations, algorithms, tables, and figures. In addition, the literature sources and references can be easily managed with bibtex.
