The Faculty of Computer Science was established in 2009 at Kabul University. This Faculty has been established as a result of an upgrade process of the Computer Science Department that was previously established under the framework of the Faculty of Science in 1997. The establishment of the Computer Science Faculty (CSF) was a step towards the country’s development needs for the Computer Science professionals and the use of modern technologies.Computer Science Faculty (CSF) supports the goals of computer science field by offering unique undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the field of computer science. The faculty comprises 35 dedicated academic staff and all the staff are Master Degree holders. The academic staffs of the faculty have fair teaching knowledge and experiences. Computer Science Faculty has the following four departments:
In the first two semesters the students of all departments are studying general subjects, some of which are the university requirements. Starting at the third semester, the Professional Curriculum comes, which consists of professional courses for each department. Currently Computer Application Department does not graduate students and the instructors of this department teach computer courses in other faculties of Kabul University.
Every student at the fourth year must write a monograph in order to complete the B.Sc. degree requirements, beside the students will receive the Cisco Networking Academy certificates.
The Cisco Networking Academy is one of the main programs of the Computer Science Faculty under the framework of the Information Technology Department. The Cisco Networking Academy is also acting as the Instructor Training Center (ITC) and Academy Support Center (ASC) in Afghanistan and in the region. Currently the Cisco Program is supporting 6 academies in all over Afghanistan.
CSF has a purpose-built building at the Campus of Kabul University that was funded by the People's Republic of Japan. The building has modern classrooms, lecture rooms, conference room, data center, 3 computer labs with thin clients, 2 PC labs; IP based video surveillance system, biometric access control system, Voice over IP communication, and solar powered labs. The Faculty has one specialized library, study room, and Internet facility.
S. Hassan Adelyar is instructor of Software Engineering Department at Computer Science Faculty. He has 20 years of academic and professional experience in the field of computer science and software engineering.
Mr. Mohammad Tariq Meeran is instructor of Information Technology Department at Computer Science Faculty. He is having 16years of academic and professional experience in the field of IT .
Jawid Ahmad Baktash received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from Kabul University at 2010 and South Asian University at 2013 respectively. He received his PhD. from the University of the Ryukyus in 2017 .
